Naomi goes silent and Ruth and Naomi continue on the road to Bethlehem.
The road to Bethlehem is a road travelled by another woman years down the track, a road that carried Jesus’ mother, Mary, and his father, Joseph. The road to Bethlehem carried the promise of hope. Little did Ruth know that she carried the seed of hope physically. That her blood line carried the seed of hope that would revolutionise the world. As Naomi and Ruth carried hope in their hearts, so too, Mary carried Christ in her womb – the hope of humanity.
The road to Bethlehem once carried many stories of everyday travellers, not unlike Naomi with her story of return, or Ruth in her hope of a better future. The road to Bethlehem has a more significant story attached to it: The story of Christmas.
Let every heart prepare him room…. Joy to the world… The road to Bethlehem.
