‘But generous people plan to do what is generous,
and they stand firm in their generosity. (Isaiah 32:8 NLT)’
Generosity is at the core of who God is. It defines him and his children.
The king was generous.
He had a plan from the beginning of time that was based on generosity.
And his plan remains and stands from in generosity.
At no time is his plan based on who you are or what you have done or what he gets from it. His generosity is not robbed by circumstances or by actions of others or by what is happening on the earth. His generosity is based on who he is and a nature.
The king stands firm in his generosity.
The king is generous.
He has a plan to keep on doing what is generous.
We would be in a very different place if he was not generous. We would also be in a very different place if his generosity was defined by us.
He is generous because of who he is. His plan of generosity is not defined by who he is generous to. His purpose and plan for your life is to show you his generosity. God is intentionally generous.
Generosity (of the biblical kind), is a mark of godliness and a reflection of his image.
Generosity is not an option. It is a mandate! Hills Women, like their King, stand firm in their generosity.
Nothing should be able to move you from your position of generosity but it can. Worries, priorities, emotions, my limitations, my focus or lack of, who, motives, circumstances and the daily grind, busyness, apathy and a lack of appreciation can all impact on our generosity.
When generosity and faith collide..
When we take the small thing in our hand and pray over it and give it away, the power of God takes our small gift and turns it into something supernatural. That is the power of generosity and faith colliding, trusting that when we obediently give what we do have to others as an act of worship, that God will make it something of worth.
God is intentional in his generosity. He has a plan. He includes us in that plan.
When generosity is fickle
Hills women define themselves by what God calls us? Right? He calls us to be godly…to reflect his image and his likeness and provide a taste of heaven to those who need him. We are not generous based on who needs our generosity or who is worthy of our generosity. We represent heaven and we must represent it with genuine generosity.
In order to be generous we must plan to be generous. If we wait to feel generous it is not likely to happen or our generosity will be fickle. It will rise and fall like the waves.
If we are only generous to those who can return the favour or give us something in return then it makes our generosity fickle.
If we are only generous when we can afford it , then it makes our generosity fickle.
If we are only generous when others will notice or appreciate then our generosity is fickle.
If we are only generous when it makes sense then it makes our generosity fickle.
When we are only generous to those we know and love it makes our generosity fickle.
Then he turned to the host. “The next time you put on a dinner, don’t just invite your friends and family and rich neighbors, the kind of people who will return the favor. Invite some people who never get invited out, the misfits from the wrong side of the tracks. You’ll be—and experience—a blessing. They won’t be able to return the favor, but the favor will be returned—oh, how it will be returned!—at the resurrection of God’s people.” (Luke 14:12-14 MSG).
